Diving in Koh Tao (Tao island in Thai)

View from my room

Island Koh Tao (Tao island) is the small isle (8 sq miles) located in Thai bay, and it is the most northern smallest isle within 3 chained isles.

We must fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui (Samui island), takes about one hour, where is popular resort isle among the European people.
There are many nice hotels and beach along the coast.
But for the diver, Koh Tao is the place to visit, it takes 2.5 hours voyage from Koh Samui.
It is my surprises to see so many European back-packers with me on the boat to Koh Tao, it is not necessary for them to dive but it proves Koh Tao is so famous for them to go and stay.
Maybe Koh Tao is less developed than Koh Samui, it is the reason they can easily find more economical hotels and restaurant.

Koh Tao shares the tropical climate, and the year can be split into 3 seasons, a dry season (Dec - Feb), a hot season (Mar - Aug), and a wet season (Sep - Nov). Wet season is not supposed to be the good for diving, it is why the visitors are in the peak in Aug.

My hotel was on the top of northern hill, from my room, we can enjoy a nice view of the sea.
King's yacht and battle ship
During my stay, a grand-son of the King of Thai stayed Koh Tao with his yacht for diving, his boat is surrounded with 3 navy battle-ships always.
At night those boats are decorated in the electric light, which are so beautiful, thanks for the King's grand-son.
But when we reached to them for going to the diving point, it was warned telling not invade their area.
Yes, your highness, it is your kingdom.

How was our diving ?  I stayed 3 days, and dived 4 times a day, but sea condition was worst because of strong wind. In order to avoid the wind, our boat have to be kept backside of the island, which means we have no choice of the diving point. Water clearness was the worst, we were in like thin soup potage.
Everyone complained, but I did not care, I am always happy to enjoy weightlessness in water, it is fun of my diving.
